Divisional AFL and Netball 2019

On Friday July 26th, the Greenvale PS AFL and Netball teams went to Jacana Football Club and Boardmans Stadium in Sunbury to compete in the Divisional Interschool Sport.

The Netball teams experienced a mix of results for the day, winning and losing games but learning a lot about the sport of netball along the way. Not a single player on the Greenvale PS Netball teams had played competitive netball outside of school, so to make it to the Divisional Championships was a great result.
Thank you to Mr Rovetto, Ms Lalor and Ms P for attending with the teams.

The recently strengthened AFL team played exceptionally well throughout the day, with very strong performances against Westmeadows, Craigieburn South and St Anne’s Primary Schools.
The team attacked the contests and vigour and spirit, tackled and ran hard and were very skilful around the contest.
They won all three of the matches and will now advance on to the Northern Metropolitan Region finals in just over a weeks time.
Thank you to Ms Smith for assisting with the AFL team.

We wish the AFL team all the best at the Region event.

SSV State Cross Country Championships

On Thursday July 18th, Greenvale Primary School Year 6 student Matthew, attended the ‘School Sport Victoria, State Cross Country Championships’ at Bundoora Park to compete in the 12 Year Old Boys, 3000m race.

Matthew has run through an outstanding Cross Country season, placing first at School, District and Division Cross Country events, smashing his personal best placing at the Regional Cross Country and proving to be a more than capable performer at the State Cross Country event.

In a race of approximately one-hundred competitors, Matthew placed 44th, putting him in the top fifty long distance runners for his age in Victoria. Matthew is running at an elite level and continues to rapidly improve his performance.

Congratulations on your amazing achievement this year.

Have aliens landed at Greenvale P.S?

When students, teachers and parents arrived at school for the start of Term 3, they were surprised, astonished and amazed. They found what looked like the remains of a spaceship in the playground. Because everyone had been enjoying the holidays, there were no witnesses to the landing and so no-one is really sure who was in the spaceship or what they might look like.

Principal of Greenvale Primary School, Angie Ireland said “We really don’t know what has happened but hopefully we will be able to work it out soon.”

Police are also baffled and have asked for any witnesses to the landing to come forward.

Teachers and students were amazed to find a crash site in the playground when they arrived at school after the holidays.

The note that was left at the crash site.

Sergeant Trent Hewet inspects the debris.

Regional Cross Country 2019

On Wednesday June 19th, thirteen Greenvale Primary School students attended Bundoora Park to compete in the Regional Cross Country.

The Regional level of competition is one step below State representation, so the competition was of a very high standard.

The Greenvale Primary School students competed with great determination, resilience and spirit, experiencing a mix of results across 2000 and 3000m races.

Our highest achieving student, Matthew placed 9th in the 12 Year Boys event, earning a place in the State Championships in early Term 3.

All students should be extremely proud of their efforts, your willingness to work hard to improve your performance is a credit to yourself. Keep persevering in Cross Country next year and you will go a step closer to State representation.

We wish Mathew all the best at the State Championships next term.
