Tabloid Sports 2019

On Friday December 13th, all students in Foundation, Year 1 and Year 2 participated a Tabloid Sports morning.

Competing in their house colours students engaged in a range of active events, displaying plenty of school spirit.

Our enthusiastic teachers did an incredible job across all of the stations and it was wonderful to have so many parents volunteer to assist and support on the day, thank you.

The stand outs of the event were our amazing Year 6 House Captains who embraced the challenge of running activities for crowds of our junior students. You all did an amazing job.

I hope you take the leadership knowledge and skills that you have developed this year, without throughout your secondary education.

Nursing Home Visits – Choir

On Thursday 5th December the choir visited 3 Nursing Homes to sing Christmas songs. The Homes were: OPAL Roxburgh Meadow Heights, CraigCare Pascoe Vale Nursing Home & Aged Care and Arcadia Aged Care Facility (Essendon).

The students were welcomed with open arms and residents sang along to the well-known Christmas songs. Many students received hugs and praises before leaving. The students are to be commended for their professionalism and ability to bring great joy to many older citizens of the outer community.

Well done to all the students for their hard work, practising during lunchtimes each week. They’ll be back in our Christmas Concert ready to sing ‘Here Comes Santa Claus’, which includes a little dancing from some of our Year 6’s.

Year 6 Camp – Thursday

We woke up to a warm and windy day where we all had to practise our great Aussie salute to keep the flies away. Armed with lots of sunscreen we headed to our activities with one change. our Kayakers became Boogie Boarders. The cool change was a brief shower that brought relief from the heat and we continued on. for our last night at camp we feasted on chicken schnitzel, roast vegies and yummy salads, topped off with ice cream cones. Tonight we will be putting on our disco gear to party the night away.

Singing ‘We Are’

On Thursday 7th November all Foundations, Year 1s and Year 2s sang the ‘Music Count Us In’ song at 12.30pm, the same time as students all around Australia. ‘Music Count Us In’ is built around a unique program song. The writing of the program song each year begins with our National Song writing Competition, open to all students from across Australia. The finalists of the Song writing Competition then gather together to write the program song, with the assistance of Program Ambassador John Foreman and a guest celebrity Program Mentor. The song is then recorded by students and released to all registered schools.

Sporting Galas 2019

Across a busy week in Term Four, many of the Year 5 and 6 students from Greenvale Primary School participated in a number of Sporting Gala Days. This included the Cricket Gala, Northern Metro Region Volleyball and the Boys and Girls Rugby Gala Days.

The Cricket Gala was a huge success, with over sixty Greenvale Primary students entering the competition across seven teams. Throughout the hot day at Roxburgh Park, our students played with great endeavour and spirit, with fantastic results. We now have a boys and girls cricket team who will go onto play Regional Finals later in Term 4.

The Northern Metro Region Volleyball, was one level below state representation and the competition was fierce. Our girls played their best volleyball for the year, pushing each team to wire in close and tense, however were unsuccessful in advancing through to State Championships. Congratulations to our Volleyball Girls. You are an amazing team, keep practising and you will go onto bigger and better things.

The Boys and Girls Rugby Galas were a heap of fun. Despite the heat out at Sunbury all of our teams proudly displayed their athleticism and our school values throughout the fantastic event. We had
