Divisional Cross Country 2019

On Wednesday May 29, twenty-seven of Greenvale Primary School finest runners attended Bundoora Park for the Divisional Cross Country.

In very cold and wet conditions, our students battled through 2000 and 3000m races, displaying great sportsmanship, resilience and school spirit.

All of the students competing at this level should be extremely proud of their efforts. Some of the outstanding individual performances include:
– 10 Year Girls: Victoria 3rd
– 10 Year Girls: Nethasha 4th
– 10 Year Boys: Jake 9th
– 11 Year Girls: Ruby 8th
– 11 Year Girls: Azra 9th
– 11 Year Boys: Omer 11th
– 11 Year Boys: Ridha 12th
– 12 Year Girls: Asli 4th
– 12 Year Girls: Rebekah 11th
– 12 Year Boys: Matthew 1st
– 12 Year Boys: Xavier 6th
– 12 Year Boys: Brodey 9th
– 12 Year Boys: Jacob 12th

These students will continue onto the Regional Cross Country in three weeks time.

Divisional Swimming 2019

On Tuesday March 5th, five Greenvale Primary School students attended the Divisional Swimming Championships held at the Northcote Aquatic and Recreation Centre.

Dumini, Ruby, Mischa, Jasmine and Brodey proudly represented our school in a fun, sunny day at the pool. Our students completed in a range of events including backstroke, freestyle, breast stroke, butterfly and the medley relay.

We experienced some amazing results with:
– Dumini placing third in the 10 Year Girls Freestyle and Breast Stroke,
– Jasmine placing second in the 11 Year Girls Freestyle and Backstroke,
-Brodey placing third in the 12 Year Boys Freestyle and Backstroke,
– Ruby, Mischa, Brodey and Jasmine placing second in the Open Age Medley Relay.

Congratulations to all of the students involved, you should be very proud of your efforts. I hope you continue to strive to improve your swimming.

Divisional Athletics 2018

On Monday September 10, 28 Greenvale Primary School students attended the Divisional Athletics at the Meadow Glen Athletics Track in Epping.

The team competed with great sportsmanship and athleticism throughout the day competing in a range of events including 100, 200, 800, 1500, high jump, long jump, triple jump, shot put, discus, hurdles and relay.

We experienced many outstanding results throughout the day and showed a heap of school spirit. Congratulations to the eleven students who will go onto compete at the Regional Athletics early in Term 4.

Divisional Soccer 2018

On Friday July 27th, the Greenvale Primary School soccer team attended the Hume City FC to compete in the Divisional Soccer Competition.

The girls played three round robin matches, losing their first game against Our Ladys Mt Carmel 1 – 0.
After composing themselves the girls went on to win their next two matches, 1 – o, against Mt Ridely College and Gladstone Park PS.
This set the team up for a grand final playoff against Mt Ridley College.
Despite being in control for most of the match, the girls were unable to capitalize on their opportunities and let one goal slip, losing the final 1 – 0.

Well done to all of these girls in the Greenvale Soccer Team. Your leadership, development and team spirit has been a pleasure to watch grow throughout the season. You should all be extremely proud of your achievements.

Divisional Netball 2018

On Friday July 20th, Greenvale Primary Schools girls netball team attended Boardmans Stadium in Sunbury to compete in the Woodlands Division Netball Championships.

Throughout the day, the team competed with great spirit, determination and a positive attitude. The first match resulted in a loss against Kismet Park Primary School, who also ended up being the strongest team. The second match finished in a narrow defeat against Craigieburn South Primary school and the final game was a tight contest, finishing with a draw at eight all against Aitken College.

Hugh thank yous go out to the parents who came along to support, Mr Rovetto who coached the team and most importantly the students who played an excellent netball season.
I hope this inspires further netball experiences for you in the future.

Divisional Cross Country 2018

On Wednesday May 30th, 21 Greenvale Primary School students attended Bundoora Park to compete in the Divisional Cross Country.

On a tough track all competitors represented Greenvale Primary School proudly, running with great strength, endurance and stamina.

All of these students should be extremely proud of the efforts and continue to strive to improve their results in the future.

Seven students placed in the top 10 of their event will advance to the Regional Cross Country on Wednesday June 20. These students are:
11 Year Girls
Maiya – 1st
Abbey – 7th
Rebekah – 10th

11 Year Boys
Brodey – 7th
Jacob – 8th

12 Year Boys
Royce – 4th
Max – 10th

Congratulations to these students, and good luck at the regional event.

Greenvale Athletics results, 2018

On Tuesday March 27th, all Year 3, 4, 5 and 6 students competed in the annual Greenvale Athletics Carnival.

In mild conditions all students competed out on the Bradford Oval, across a range of events including high jump, long jump, discus, shot put, 100m sprint, 200m sprint, 800m run and the 1500m run.

With students experiencing a range of results throughout the day, every student who placed in the top four of their respective event winning points for their house.

The final placings of the houses are as follows:
1st – Woodlands, 359 points
2nd – Cumberland, 357 points
3rd – Oaklands, 300 points
4th – Gellibrand, 243 points.

The students also competed for a spirit award which is rewarded to the house which displayed the greatest amount of school spirit.
This award was presented to a house who proudly displayed in their house colour, cheered on the peers, supported each other and set a great example on and off the track. This was awarded to Woodlands.

Congratulations to Woodlands for winning both the Champion House and Spirit Trophies for 2018. A terrific effort.
