On Thursday February 20th, students in Years 4, 5 and 6 (with a few select Year 3s) participated in the Greenvale Primary School Annual Cross Country.
On a gloomy summers day, our school spirit was still high as students competed against each other across six races covering 2000 and 3000 meter courses, trying to win maximum points for their house.
The first placed student from every race was announced as the Age Group Champion and students placing in the top ten earning their place in the Greenvale Cross Country team.

The the overall House standings, we finished with the following results:
4th: Gellibrand, 78 points
3rd: Cumberland, 123 points
2nd: Woodlands, 124 points
1st: Oaklands, 153 points
Congratulations to Oaklands House for winning this year’s Cross Country.

The Greenvale Cross Country will be held at School / Bradford Oval on Thursday February 20th beginning at approximately 9.15am and concluding at 11.00am.
Every student from Years 4-6, as well as some Year 3 students will be competing for their house and for the chance to represent Greenvale in the district cross country. Students will compete against peers from their age group.
The following distances will be run for each age group:
9/10 year old: 2km 11 year old: 3km 12/13 year old: 3km
Age groups are based on the age a student will be on the 31/12/2020. For example: all students born in 2011 or 2010 will be in the 9/10 year age group, all students born in 2009 will be in the 11 year age group and all students born in 2008 or 2007 will be in the 12/13 year age group.
We invite all parents and guardians to come and watch their children compete in the Cross Country
The following race times are approximate and subject to change.
· 9:30 AM 12 Years and over Boys.
· 9:35 AM 12 Years and over Girls.
· 9:50 AM 11 Year Boys.
· 9:55 AM 11 Year Girls.
Across a busy week in Term Four, many of the Year 5 and 6 students from Greenvale Primary School participated in a number of Sporting Gala Days. This included the Cricket Gala, Northern Metro Region Volleyball and the Boys and Girls Rugby Gala Days.
The Cricket Gala was a huge success, with over sixty Greenvale Primary students entering the competition across seven teams. Throughout the hot day at Roxburgh Park, our students played with great endeavour and spirit, with fantastic results. We now have a boys and girls cricket team who will go onto play Regional Finals later in Term 4.
The Northern Metro Region Volleyball, was one level below state representation and the competition was fierce. Our girls played their best volleyball for the year, pushing each team to wire in close and tense, however were unsuccessful in advancing through to State Championships. Congratulations to our Volleyball Girls. You are an amazing team, keep practising and you will go onto bigger and better things.
The Boys and Girls Rugby Galas were a heap of fun. Despite the heat out at Sunbury all of our teams proudly displayed their athleticism and our school values throughout the fantastic event. We had
On Thursday October 24th, three of Greenvale Primary Schools finest athletes attended the School Sport Victoria State Track and Field Championships, held at Lakeside Stadium in Albert Park.
In hot conditions Dumini, Mischa and Matthew represented our school with great pride competing in Discus, Hurdles, Triple Jump and 1500m events.
With the competition being fierce, many personal bests were thrown, jumped or run. All three students should be extremely proud of their results.
