YEAR 6 NEWS

With Term 1 quickly drawing to a close we look back on what has been a very busy time.

Student leaders attended the GRIP Leadership conference travelling into town by train and learning the core strategies related to being a leader.

Harmony Day saw the Year sixes dressing in orange and spending their day building, creating, singing karaoke, improving their photography skills, playing board games  and having a great day playing.

Taking part in the cross country gave our students an opportunity to practise their leadership skills. This time it was our House Captains leading their Houses in cheering on the runners and assisting in the setup and operation of the day. Congratulation to Oaklands house on taking out the day.

Responsibility – I am accountable for my actions

Reasoning – I question what is real

Resilience – I get back up from tough situations

2018 Year 6 Portsea Camp

Wednesday saw the sun shine brightly as we began our activities, high ropes, giant swing, flying fox, orienteering, kyacking, and games. Lunch was hamburgers, then we headed to the beach for an afternoon of sun, sand and surf (well not really surf, more like ripples) Dinner was snitzel, roast potatoes and salad followed by chocolate ripple cake. Then the rain arrived so we all settled down to watch a movie in our PJ’s.

2018 Year 6 Portsea Camp

After a delayed start for one of our busses we all arrived at Portsea camp in time for a delicious lunch of make your own cold meat and salad rolls. We then changed into our beach gear and hit the water, a light drizzle didn’t stop us from having a great time. As the clouds started to build we headed back to camp for afternoon tea, showers, a thunder storm and some indoor games. Dinner was fish and chips and your choice of the most delicious salads you could dream of, followed by ice cream cake for desert. Don’t forget to check in each night to find out what has been happening at camp
