On Tuesday 21st of August, Greenvale Primary had our annual Book Week Dress Up day! Students and teachers dressed up as their favourite book character, or matched the theme of ‘Find You Treasure’. There were lots of fabulous Year 2 Students with amazing, detailed and creative costumes. We saw Where’s Wally?, Harry Potter, Spiderman, Alice in Wonderland and much more! The students were involved in a parade where they walked to show off their stunning costumes to other students, teachers and visiting parents. WOW!
During Term 3, a group of Year 1 and Year 2 students were invited to participate in an excursion at Living Legends in Woodlands Park, Greenvale. Our students were selected to be part of the ‘Horses Birthday’ Celebrations where they explored information about the Melbourne Cup, visiting the stables and meeting past winners of the famous race! The students participated in arts and crafts throughout the day, which included; decorating horse shoes, colouring in and face painting. In the afternoon the students saw how the horses where weighed, they then went onto the scales to see how many students they had to put together to make them weigh the same as a horse. They also got to feed the horses some carrots and gave them a friendly pat. We all had a very exciting and educational day!
This term, the Year 2 students have been learning about forces and how they effect the way objects move as part of their Inquiry unit. The students worked collaboratively with a partner to design, build and test their very own parachute to explore push and pull forces such as gravity and drag. After testing their parachute by dropping it from the top of the playground, they experimented with different variables and made changes to improve their parachute.
