Italian Week

The Year 2 students had an exciting week participating in fun activities and learning all about ‘Incredible Italy!’ They were very entertained by the live puppet theatre show titled ‘Pinocchio’ and some students were fortunate enough to participate in a special soccer clinic run by the local Greenvale soccer team. The Year 2 students also prepared, cooked and ate their very own Margarita Pizza! Buonissimo!

Busy BEEs

The Year 2 students have been busy bees this term! Learning lots about Bees and the importance and impact they have on people and the environment. We had a special bee keeper fly in to teach us more about bees. Students got to see an artificial bee hive with over 10,000 bees inside. They were able to hold honeycomb and taste freshly made honey. It was ‘bee’utiful!

RACV Road Safety

This term the Year 2 students were very fortunate to have a special guest from RACV come to the school. The students learnt how to be safe on our roads. They also learnt how to be safe in the car as a passenger. One thing that stood out to us all was, children should be over 145cm tall to safely sit in the front passenger seat. If they are under this height it is not safe as the air bags will not work effectively.

23rd-27th of April

This week the students furthered their knowledge of the importance of ANZAC day. In the classroom we had conversations on why we commemorate the soldiers and the people that were affected by the war. We learnt about the history and the journey the ANZAC’s had over 100 years ago. We explored care packages, stories and made our very own ANZAC biscuits!

Polite Kite Flight Incursion

On Thursday the 21st of March the Year2 students participated in a Polite Kite Incursion. The Year 2 team also celebrated Harmony Day by wearing orange and completing Polite Kite activities. Earlier in the week the students worked hard creating their designs before perfecting it on their kite skin. The Year 2 students also attended a Kite Talk presented by Olympic kite champion Jo. Wednesday and Thursday they participated in a workshop where they built their kites ready to fly at the festival.

Thursday afternoon Foundation, Year 1 and Year 2 were joined by friends and families on the oval for the fantastic festival of the Polite Kites!
