Forces in Action

Our sensational Year 4 scientists participated in an exciting ‘Mad About Science’ Workshop, exploring Newton’s Three Laws of Motion through a range of fun and hands-on experiments!

Students worked in pairs and small groups to explore the elements of gravity, lift, friction and force. Curiosity and chaos ruled the day as students had fun balancing and spinning objects – spinning propellers were a favourite!

Year 2 Science Investigation: Car Ramps

Students in Year 2 have been focusing on Physical Science. Their task was to investigate forces and the consideration of how pushes and pulls make things move. We used the following question as a focus point:

How far can we get our car to travel without pushing or pulling it?

Students worked in collaborative groups and predicted, observed and explained their findings after designing, building, testing and evaluating their car ramps.

Year 6 Investigating the 3 States of Matter

Who would have thought that science experiments would be so much fun and yummy as well.

Do you know why the lemonade frothed up when the ice cream was added or why the bubbles didn’t pop on the wet table? If not ask a year 6 student.

Greenvale Giving

The children at Greenvale Primary School are very fortunate to have access to hundreds of books to encourage a love of reading. However, there are many children in Australia and around the world who do not. We would like to give these children the books they need to develop a love of reading too.

We are calling this Greenvale Giving. In conjunction with the Smith Family Toy and Book Appeal, Greenvale Primary School is asking parents and children to please donate books to children in need. All books collected will be distributed to those children by the Smith Family.

We are hoping that each family at Greenvale PS can donate at least one new book, to be given to a child as a present for Christmas. For this reason, the books need to be new books with no messages or names written on them and not wrapped up. It is a way for children to help children and a way to give to the community and country in which they live.

In addition, as part of this year’s maths program we are asking all families to ‘GIVE 5.’ This means we would like you to collect as many 5

Footy Colours Day

On Friday the 18th of September Greenvale P.S. is hosting a footy colours day. All students are encouraged to wear their favourite footy club colours, including AFL, soccer and rugby. Students are required to bring in a gold coin donation if they wish to participate in the special event. Funds raised will be forwarded to the Fight Cancer Foundation. Football related activities will be run by the Student Voice Team on the day. There will also be a footy parade for students to show off their team spirit. The footy parade will be held at 12:30pm. Parents are very welcome to spectate. Special ‘footy themed’ lunch orders are available on the day. Please note that regular lunch orders will NOT be accepted on the day.

We hope to see you there!
