Year 5 Camp to Phillip Island Adventure Resort

Phillip Island Adventure Resort

6th – 9th October

On Tuesday the 6th of October, the Year 5 students went to Phillip Island Adventure Resort.  Everyone was very excited to arrive.  After saying goodbye to our families we headed off for a long trip but it was all worth it when we saw the sparkling ocean and cabins waiting for us.

We had some delicious food including fish and chips, cheeseburgers, chicken wraps and much more.  We also got to enjoy some magnificent activities that some of us had never tried before.  I know the 18 metre high giant swing scared some people but everyone loved the extremely fast flying-fox.  Other students were very proud of their canoeing skills.  Other activities were circotron, archery, ponding and low ropes.

On Tuesday night we settled down and watched a movie.  On Wednesday night we went for a night walk. On Thursday afternoon we all walked to the beach after buying an ice-cream. We played in the sand and played different sports and had a blast.  Then it was time for our awesome disco on Thursday night – we were wearing our fabulous ‘glow in the dark’ t-shirts that we created earlier in the

Happily Ever After!

During Term 4 our Inquiry topic is ‘Happily Ever After’. We will be studying lots of different Fairy Tales. On Tuesday the 13th October we had an exciting in-school activity by Carp Productions. This show explored Fairy Tales in a fun and interactive way, getting all the students involved in the story. Students learnt not only about the stories, but had an opportunity to experience performance for themselves. We all enjoyed the show, it was really funny!! Below are some photos, even some of our own students performing in the show!

These students did a fantastic job of representing our school as they competed across a range of events including 100m, 800m, hurdles, relays, high jump and long jump.

All Greenvale students should be proud of their efforts as these championships are very competitive and all students involved are very talented.

Maddox and Sienna will now continue onto compete at the state championships on Monday October 26th at Lakeside Stadium.

‘Egg’cellent Egg-Drop

As part of our Term 3 Science Unit, the Year 4 students explored the properties of natural and processed materials. Students were asked to design and construct a special package that could house a raw egg and keep it from breaking when dropped from a high distance. Needless to say ‘eggcellent’ fun was had by all!
