Girls AFL 9s – North Western Region

On Wednesday August 23rd, Greenvale Primary Schools top Girls AFL team attended the AFL Victoria 9s competition, competing in the North Western Region Championships at Windy Hill Football Club.

Across the day, Greenvale PS played three matches against teams from Broadmeadows PS, Coburg West PS and Ilim College, in warm but windy conditions.

Our team got off to a slow start against Broadmeadows PS but were still strong enough to win the first game comfortably.
Following this, our girls hit their straps and played extremely well against Ilim College, kicking fast goals and pressuring the ball early to win their second match.
Finally they came up against Coburg West PS, who played a strong game, but our girls were able to match them and run over the top in the second and third quarters, winning the final game.

The Greenvale PS girls were crowned the Regional Champions and will go onto play in the State Finals on Wednesday September 6th and Victoria Park in Collingwood.

A special thank you to Ms Wynd who assisted us with supervision and coaching throughout the day, and the parents who came out to support the girls.

Well done to all of the girls. You played with great skill, athleticism and endeavour. Your success is a credit to your hard work and ability to execute our game plan. I can’t wait to see you play again in two weeks time.
