Farewell Mrs Coker

On the last day of Term 3 6JH, 6BM, 6AK and 5/6C  farewelled Mrs Coker as she takes a break from teaching to become a mum. We cant wait for next term when she visits with her new little bundle of joy.

We welcome Mr B into our team as 5/6C’s new teacher and the Year 6 Team leader.

NEWS FROM 5/6C, 6BM, 6AK & 6JH

Dear Parents,

Welcome to the first edition of Year 6 news, designed to help keep you informed about what is happening in your child’s classroom.

Congratulations firstly to all of the students, as it has been a very settled start to Term 3! Welcome back to Miss Anne Killeen who had a fantastic overseas holiday! Mrs Kylie Coker is hoping to finish out the term before commencing maternity leave. Mr Andrew Bouzikas will be replacing Mrs Kylie Coker for the remainder of the year.

Homework

According to Education Department guidelines, homework should be:

  • appropriate to the student’s skill level and age
  • purposeful, meaningful and relevant to the curriculum
  • interesting, challenging and when appropriate open ended
  • assessed by teachers with feedback and support provided
  • balanced with a range of recreational, family and cultural activities.

Year 6 students should be doing between 30-45 minutes of homework daily. Every student should be reading each night for at least 20 mins. It is expected that the Year 6 students will be practising their multiplication facts each night.
