Student Voice Nursing Home Visit

Student Voice Volunteer Day

On Friday, the 27th of November, the student voice team volunteered their time at the Opal Roxburgh Aged Care Facility in Meadow Heights.

Each student made a short presentation to showcase their hobbies/talents/achievements. The students then played bingo with the residents and then read to them and chatted. We had a great time and the students and residents were sad when it was time to leave!

Congratulations to the student voice members Jalle, Ben, Daniel, Eden, Sandu, Zain, Samantha and Selim; and to school captains and vice captains Darcy, Joshua, James and Isabelle for volunteering their time, and for demonstrating their strong leadership skills and strengthening their links with the local community.

A big thank you to teacher Mareeka Papadopolous for organising the visit and to parent helper Lisa Kenos for her time.

Fairy Tale Parade

During Term 4 we have been reading and looking at different Fairytales. On Thursday the 19th November all of the Year 1’s participated in a Fairytale parade!! The students looked fantastic in their dress ups, they all went to a lot of effort to look their best for the day.

We had princesses, princes, pirates, dragons, fairies and many more! The parents even had a dance with us at the end. We all had a lot of fun. Below are some pictures from the day:

Year 5 Camp to Phillip Island Adventure Resort

Phillip Island Adventure Resort

6th – 9th October

On Tuesday the 6th of October, the Year 5 students went to Phillip Island Adventure Resort.  Everyone was very excited to arrive.  After saying goodbye to our families we headed off for a long trip but it was all worth it when we saw the sparkling ocean and cabins waiting for us.

We had some delicious food including fish and chips, cheeseburgers, chicken wraps and much more.  We also got to enjoy some magnificent activities that some of us had never tried before.  I know the 18 metre high giant swing scared some people but everyone loved the extremely fast flying-fox.  Other students were very proud of their canoeing skills.  Other activities were circotron, archery, ponding and low ropes.

On Tuesday night we settled down and watched a movie.  On Wednesday night we went for a night walk. On Thursday afternoon we all walked to the beach after buying an ice-cream. We played in the sand and played different sports and had a blast.  Then it was time for our awesome disco on Thursday night – we were wearing our fabulous ‘glow in the dark’ t-shirts that we created earlier in the

Greenvale Giving

The children at Greenvale Primary School are very fortunate to have access to hundreds of books to encourage a love of reading. However, there are many children in Australia and around the world who do not. We would like to give these children the books they need to develop a love of reading too.

We are calling this Greenvale Giving. In conjunction with the Smith Family Toy and Book Appeal, Greenvale Primary School is asking parents and children to please donate books to children in need. All books collected will be distributed to those children by the Smith Family.

We are hoping that each family at Greenvale PS can donate at least one new book, to be given to a child as a present for Christmas. For this reason, the books need to be new books with no messages or names written on them and not wrapped up. It is a way for children to help children and a way to give to the community and country in which they live.

In addition, as part of this year’s maths program we are asking all families to ‘GIVE 5.’ This means we would like you to collect as many 5

Footy Colours Day

On Friday the 18th of September Greenvale P.S. is hosting a footy colours day. All students are encouraged to wear their favourite footy club colours, including AFL, soccer and rugby. Students are required to bring in a gold coin donation if they wish to participate in the special event. Funds raised will be forwarded to the Fight Cancer Foundation. Football related activities will be run by the Student Voice Team on the day. There will also be a footy parade for students to show off their team spirit. The footy parade will be held at 12:30pm. Parents are very welcome to spectate. Special ‘footy themed’ lunch orders are available on the day. Please note that regular lunch orders will NOT be accepted on the day.

We hope to see you there!
