Year 5 Phillip Island Adventure Resort Camp

Year 5 Camp

On Tuesday the 9th of October the Year 5 cohort went to Phillip Island Adventure Resort. Students enjoyed a range of activities such as the giant swing, twin flying fox and the circatron. We also had the opportunity to go to A Maze ’N’ Things where we played mini golf and got lost in the maze.

Year 5 camp was the best camp EVER! My favourite activity was the circatron. Another activity I enjoyed was the giant swing. I personally think that the food was pretty good. We made pancakes on the last day and they were really good!

Year 5 camp in 2018 was my favourite camp I have ever been on! My favourite part was the circitron that astronauts used to train on. Another thing was the disco. We danced to lots of songs and we had a lot of fun. But my favourite part of all was the food. We had amazing meals that always left us full. We had breakfast, morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea and dinner.

My favourite thing about Year 5 camp was the Twin flying fox because you had an amazing view of Phillip Island. Another

Regional Athletics 2018

On Wednesday October 17th, eleven Greenvale Primary School students attended the Meadowglen Athletics Stadium in Epping to compete in the Northern Region Athletics Carnival.

With this level of athletics being one below state, the competition was tough and talented.
Our students proudly represented our school across a range of events including high jump, long jump, discus, 100, 200, 1500, relay and hurdles, competing with excellent sportsmanship and determination.

Well done to all students who attended, your skill and athleticism to get you so far through the School Sport Victoria system is a credit to your hard work and training. I hope to see you continue this next year.
Special congratulations go to Kean, Max and Mischa who will continue on to compete in the School Sport Victoria Athletics State Championships on Monday October 29th, across 100, 200 and discus. We wish you all the best.

Footy Colours Day 2018

On Friday September 21st, Greenvale Primary School celebrated its annual Footy Colours Day.
Students were able to wear their footy colours to school on this day, displaying many teams from the AFL, NRL and A-League, as well as national and international soccer and rugby, in addition to some local sporting clubs too.

Students were asked to contribute a gold coin donation to this fantastic day and we raised $822.85 for the charity ‘Fight Cancer Foundation.’
The House Captains ran footy related activities at recess for students in Foundation, Year 1 and Year 2 and we celebrated the end of term with a footy parade in the final hour which included heaps of prizes and giveaways.

Thank you all for proudly displaying your colours, I can’t wait to do it again next year.

Hot Shots Tennis 2018

Over four weeks in Term 3, students in Years 3 and 4 at Greenvale Primary School participated in a Hot Shots Tennis unit.
The program was delivered under the guidance of professionals from the Greenvale Tennis Club, including former student and Australian tennis star Chris Guccione.

Over the unit students spent time developing their repertoire of shots including forehands, backhands, serves and volleys before engaging in a play-off to win their way into the Hot Shots Grand Final.
The Hot Shots Grand Final took place today, with the top 16 male and female players from Years 3 and 4 competing against each other in a knockout tournament.

Well done to all of the students who made it into the final and a special congratulations to the following students who are our Hot Shots Champions for 2018:
Alvin and Melisa.

To all of the students in Years 3 and 4, I hope you are feeling increasingly confident on the tennis court and I hope to see you continue to improve your skills into the future.

Performing Arts computer music

Performing Arts News by Mrs Foletta

This week is planning week where students are given extra fun activities by the Specialists while their classroom teachers are planning their programs for next term.

The year 4s and 5s that had music on Tuesday were given the opportunity to create their own music on their laptops using free computer programs Incredibox and Song maker.

Congratulations to the students who performed to everyone at Monday’s Assembly and sang a really fun song called ‘Best Day Ever’.

The Greenvale Choir continue to practice during lunch sessions and will be performing some great songs at the Art Show next term. They’ll be appearing twice on the night just in case you can’t make it to their first performance. Looking forward to seeing you there!

Year 4 Camp – Day 3

Our final day at camp included more exciting challenges. Students had one last rotation before lunch and then it was time to head home. Some campers were a little worn out and took the opportunity to have a nap on the bus, while others enjoyed their last chance to share their favourite moments of the camp. Our worn-out adventurers were eager to return to the comforts of home, taking lasting memories with them.

Year 4 Camp – Day 2 Update

Day 2 at camp was yet another glorious day. In the beautiful sunshine, we faced our fears, collaborated in teams, climbed hills and walls, galloped on mighty steeds, admired the stars and viewed the hills in the moonlight. We chatted together, offered support and cheered each other on. Students demonstrated independence, resilience, kindness, compassion and friendship! What a wonderful journey we have been on. What’s instore for day 3, I wonder…
