Choir visit to Nursing Homes

The Senior choir students yesterday visited 4 different nursing homes to sing Christmas songs. The homes are in Westmeadows, Tullamarine, Essendon and Meadow Heights. They always appreciate our visit and the residents and staff showed their appreciation. I’m very proud of the choir students’ beautiful singing and particularly of those who sang solo for the first time.

Well done Choir! We’ll continue the Nursing Home visits again next year.

Tabloid Sports 2017

On Friday December 8th all staff and students in Foundation, Year 1 and Year 2 participated in Greenvale Primary Schools Tabloid Sports.

This fun filled morning was spent out in the school grounds and across the Bradford Oval as students participated in a range of active events focusing on participation, sportsmanship and school spirit.

The events consisted of 50m sprints, bean bag balance relays, parachute games and tunnel ball races. The students looked amazing in their house colours and our House Captains did an amazing job of running the activities.

Thank yous to the parents who volunteered their time to assist and spectate on the day, the captains for (once again) stepping up in their leadership role and the teachers for working tirelessly.

At Latitude we completed lots of different activities. We went on an very high obstacle course and did some rock climbing. We also got to jump, play dodge ball and shoot basketball hoops on the big trampolines. After our session we went to Bundoora Park and ate lunch. We all really enjoyed the day and had a lot of fun!!

Below are some pictures from the day.

Year 6 Camp

The weather continues to be hot and sunny which means lots of water, sunscreen and hats for our campers. Our day was filled with high ropes, flying fox rides, giant swings and ball games. Lots of challenges to be met and conquered. After lunch it was off to the beach again where throwing buckets of water at each other seemed to be the main game. At dinner time our delicious lasagna was followed by birthday cake as we celebrated 3 birthdays. Tonight it is movie night then a well earned rest.

Year 6 Camp update

After a bit of a delayed start we finally got underway and had a smooth run down to camp. On arrival we had lunch, put our bags in our rooms, got changed into our beach gear, slipped, slopped, slapped and headed for the beach. The weather was beautiful, the water was cool and everyone had a ball. Returning to our cabins we showered and sat down to a delicious dinner of chicken schnitzel and salad followed by merainge topped ice cream. With dinner out of the way it was down to the oval for a game of cricket or just relaxing. Currently everyone is playing 1 minute to win it (I will post photos of this mad game tomorrow) Its been a busy day.

Billy Slater Shield 2017

On Tuesday November 14th, thirty-one Greenvale Primary School students attended the Lakeside Reserve in Roxburgh Park to compete in the District Billy Slater Shield.

In hot and windy conditions, the Greenvale PS students competed with great effort and sportsmanship. We entered three teams, one in the Year 6 Boys Tackle competition, one in the Year 5/6 Girls Tackle competition and one in the Year 5/6 Girls Tag competition.

The Boys team had a mix of results, including wins, losses and draws, playing against Mt Ridley College, Wallan PS, Our Ladys PS and Plenty Parklands PS. The boys unfortunately missed out on the final but still had a great time and learnt a lot about the game.

The Girls Tackle team had a wins and losses playing against Our Ladys PS and Wallan PS, ultimately finishing runners up. They continued to show great spirit and also learnt a lot about the game.

The Girls Tackle team competed against Mt Ridley College and Plenty Parklands PS, finishing in first place as the District Girls Tag champions. Greenvale will now go onto compete at the State Finals in the 5/6 Girls Tag competition. We wish this team all the best!

Congratulations to all
