Foundation Excursion to the Royal Melbourne Zoo

Foundation’s Totally Wild Explorer’s Day Out!

On Wednesday the 31st of May our Foundation students went on their first excursion to the Royal Melbourne Zoo. As students and staff were dressed for the wintery weather (jackets, scarves, beanies and gloves) the Melbourne winter sun shone through making it a stunning sunny day for our ‘Wild Exploders’’ at the Zoo.

On arrival the students shared a mass ‘Storytime’ with Gabriella introducing them to the ‘Wild Explorer’s theme of the day. After morning snack and a quick stop to the toilets students explored the wild animals of the Zoo before attending their Zoo classroom experience where they were exposed to real life animals such as Puzzle the corn snake, Lucy the cockroach, tortoises, a wild explorer garden and much more.

A big thank you to all staff, parent volunteers and to the Wandong Bus lines for making the excursion a safe and enjoyable one.

We hope that you enjoy the ‘totally wild’ pictures below…

Foundation Walkathon

On Friday the 19th of May our Foundation students and teachers participated in our school’s annual WALKATHON. Students and staff were encouraged to wear brightly coloured shoes and socks on the day. The students had to complete as many laps of the WALKATHON track during the 30 minute time limit. The Foundation students actively walked the course participating in many of the challenges along the way including the Limbo and walking like different animals (crocodile, bird, frog, lion, dog and many more…) along the way. At the completion of the WALKATHON students were excited to read their walking card to discover how many laps they had achieved. Most students in Foundation completed 6 and or 7 laps during this time. A big thank you to the Junior School Council, Mrs Coker, Mrs Clegg and our parent volunteers who supported the event on the day.
